SFCC Reference Architecture
The diagrams below outline the different integrations currently available within the Forter SFCC cartridge.

You can access and download the latest version of the full Forter cartridge directly on the SFCC Partner marketplace. If you do not have an SFCC LINK account, or need an older version of the Forter SFCC cartridge, please contact your Forter onboarding team.

Post-Authorization
Forter provides an approve/decline decision AFTER the payment has been sent to the processor for authorization.
Pre-Authorization
- Order is sent to Forter for approve/decline decision BEFORE the payment has been sent to the processor for authorization.
- Approved orders are sent to the gateway for processor authorization
- Order is sent to Forter Order Status API and includes processor authorization Response (including orders where payment was not authorized) so that Forter's models can ingest additional payment data.
Pre-Authorization with Recommendations
- Order is sent to Forter for approve/decline decision AND recommendation (policy, risk, or 3DSecure) BEFORE the payment has been sent to the processor for authorization.
- Orders are sent to the gateway with PSD2 exemption or 3DS recommendation
- Gateway executes 3DS or ingests the PSD2 exemption/exclusion recommendation and returns authorization response
- Order is sent to Forter Order Status API and includes processor authorization Response (including orders where payment was not authorized) so that Forter's models can ingest additional payment data.
