Forter's Shopify Plugin

Forter's Shopify App allows you to connect your Shopify store seamlessly to Forter's revolutionary fraud prevention technology. With the Forter app, you'll benefit from highly accurate, real-time fraud decisions and have visibility and reporting available 24/7 through the Forter dashboard.

Integration Steps

  1. App Installation

    Install Forter's official Shopify Public App and set your Shopify settings in Forter Portal. Please make sure you've selected the appropriate environment and are logged into the Shopify store you want to integrate prior to initiating the installation.

  2. Front-end Integration

    Create a custom Shopify pixel with Forter's Javascript snippet.

  4. Dispute Notifications

    Notifying Forter of disputes (also called claims, chargebacks, or fraud alerts) is extremely important because it enables Forter's system to learn and continually improve future decisions, tailoring our system to your company's needs. If you use Shopify payments, Forter will receive these automatically. For other payment processors, you can send these updates to Forter via a webhook from your PSP or via Forter's Dispute API endpoint.

  5. Prepare and Upload Historical Data

    To ensure the highest level of accuracy for our decisioning model, Forter customizes our model to fit the specific risk profile of each of our customers. We achieve this by training the model with your past order and account data, including actual fraud outcomes, in order to provide you with better accuracy from Day 1.

  7. Data Validation

    Install your Shopify plugin in your production environment to begin the data validation phase. While your integration will be live in your production store, Forter will not yet return fraud decisions. All decisions will be "Not Reviewed". We recommend setting your Forter Action to "No Action" for the "Not Reviewed" decision.

  8. Listen Mode

    For a period of 7-14 days, Forter will review the production traffic on your site and ensure that our models are calibrated before we begin to provide decisions. We may also ask you to provide Traffic Review and Payment Method Review details in order to confirm all of your order flows.

  9. Go Live

    As Forter begins to send decisions, confirm that your post-decision actions are followed on live transactions as configured in Step 3.
